Tune in to Talent Workshops Hailed Success with HR Leaders

Cummins Mellor have successfully completed the first series of their free Tune in to Talent workshops for Lancashire’s HR leaders in a bid to keep top talent in our county.

tune in to talent logoTune in to Talent is a series of interactive workshops delivered by the Cummins Mellor Directors at our Cathedral Quarter offices, tackling a number of key recruitment challenges facing employers and providing valuable insight into attraction, recruitment and retention strategies.

We explored the world of recruitment together, from building a winning employer brand and implementing a successful onboarding program to getting the most out of interviews and the importance of delivering clear inductions.

HR and recruitment specialists from some of Lancashire’s most prolific businesses including PM + M, Graham & Brown, Tensar and Blackburn with Darwen Council attended the workshops, getting under the skin of how they each tackle their day to day recruitment challenges.

Lauren Ainsworth, HR Administrator at PM+M Solutions, said:

“I love attending Cummins Mellor events for how well they’re presented. Their Tune in to Talent workshops are so beneficial for anyone managing a recruitment/induction process, and I would highly recommend booking on when the sessions re-run next year.”

The feedback from the sessions was extremely positive, with many delegates already implementing changes to their interview techniques, how they onboard people and making inductions more interesting.

Tracey Whittaker, HR Manager at GAP Plastics, said:

“The workshops were very useful and provided real life guidance that I know I can implement into the business.”

Lancashire is one of the largest economies in the Northern Powerhouse with 50,000 businesses generating £28 billion per year.

With employment rates at their highest since the 1970’s, the talent pool is becoming increasingly squeezed and we need to work harder than ever to stand out as employers of choice.

It’s imperative that we adopt a proactive rather than reactive candidate attraction strategy, which means that when we need to recruit, we have a selection of approved candidates that we can approach immediately rather than having to rely on job adverts.

Michelle Mellor, Cummins Mellor CEO, said:

“We are committed to driving recruitment excellence and practice by supporting our clients through one of the biggest challenges facing every company today.

Hiring, developing and retaining top talent. It’s the single most important factor stopping our clients from sustaining and growing their businesses.

Our Tune into Talent workshops have enabled our clients to truly understand what (and how) to do differently in the whole of the hiring process, beginning to end, and we are proud and committed to continue to help them thrive now and in the future of this ever changing world of work.”

Sharing this valuable knowledge with like-minded Lancashire businesses will enable the county to prosper by attracting and retaining the very best talent.

Michelle added: “The hiring process now goes way beyond just the recruitment of people.”
