Lancashire’s Untold Digital Story

3 years ago

Cummins Mellor Managing Director Michelle Mellor will feature as a guest panellist at Business Cloud’s latest event, ‘Lancashire’s Untold Digital Story’ in Chorley on 14th November 2018.

The half-day conference will open up all aspects of the county’s digital story to reveal what the future looks like for our county.

Lancashire has reinvented itself from the days when it employed 440,000 people and produced half of the world’s cotton.

These days the county is leading the charge in the world of digital and technology.

Earlier this year, Lancashire underlined its ambitions with the launch of the UK’s first Digital Skills Partnership, which identified improving skill levels as a top priority and saw Google commit to train 1,000 people and businesses through its Google Digital Garage programme.

Lancashire is now at the vanguard of the digital revolution, from universities bridging the gap between the classroom and the business world; state-of the-art companies at the cutting edge of technology; to proactive local authorities.

Commenting on why she’s passionate about being on the panel of speakers at the event, Michelle Said;

“My whole business career has been built around my passion for people and placing them in jobs.

The future of work is increasingly becoming todays reality for millions of workers and companies. Automation, robotization, the digital landscape and the division of labour between humans, machines and algorithms are the tasks and challenges we in all sectors of industry are faced with today.

Whilst growing occupations around technology and machines is without doubt fundamental to the skills needed in the future, human traits and the softer skills are also very much in demand to enhance the digital revolution.

We need to be ready for both to succeed in the future trends expected.”
