How to Make your CV Stand Out

Here at Cummins Mellor, we see a LOT of CVs, of varying quality it has to be said!

Here are our top tips on how to make your CV stand out for all the RIGHT reasons:

  • Keep your CV concise and to the point – the general rule of thumb is 2 sides of A4. Only include information that is relevant and highlights your skills/experience.
  • Make sure that your CV is easy to read: use bullet points and headings. Your CV should be eye catching yet uncluttered.
  • Make sure that there are no spelling or grammatical mistakes!
  • Include achievements. Show how you have excelled in your professional and personal life.
  • Target your CV and tailor it for each specific vacancy.

One last point….

  • Please think about your email address if you include it on your CV. Whilst your friends may find your “[email protected]” email address amusing, is it hardly showing you in a very professional light!
