The Cummins Mellor team have been working hard to raise £276.45 for Burnley NICU, a cause which is very close to our hearts, with a former employee needing to utilise the specialist services provided by the Neonatal unit in 2010.
The Neonatal Unit is in the Lancashire Women and Newborn Centre (LWNC) on the site of Burnley General Hospital.
We are passionate about supporting and raising money for amazing services like the Neonatal Unit and raised the funds through a series of bake sales, dress down days and donations from our 40 strong team.
We invited Maternity Ward Sister, Lisa Slater to come and meet the team and collect the donation on behalf of East Lancashire Hospitals Trust Neo Natal Unit at Burnley Hospital.
Lisa kindly said: “We are so thrilled to receive donations from local businesses, the money will go towards buying specialist equipment to help those needing the services provided by the neonatal intensive care unit. This equipment is vital as it enables parents to stay on site and help care for their babies for a period of time before taking them home.”
The Neonatal Unit provides 24-hour inpatient services for Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU), high dependency (HDU) and special care (SCBU) infants born at any stage during pregnancy.
The purpose built, state of the art Unit opened in 2011 and caters for a delivery rate of over 6500 babies born each year.
We are so glad to have helped the unit and loved meeting Lisa and hearing her tell us of the difference our donation will make!
