Another Success For Bring In Your Parents Day 2015

As you may know, last year we participated in LinkedIn’s Bring In Your Parents Day which we found a great success and had a lot of fun in the process. DSC_0082

For those of you who may not be aware of the concept, LinkedIn created ‘Bring in Your Parents Day’ to give an opportunity for people to say thank you to their parents for all the ways they have been supported, whilst also enabling them to get a better understanding of what their son/daughter does in the workplace!

LinkedIn found that 1 in 3 parents doesn’t understand what their child does for a living. Bring in Your Parents Day allows employees to invite their parents in to their workplace for the day to meet their colleagues and get an insight into what a regular day involves for their son/daughter.

We enjoyed Bring In Your Parents Day so much last year we held it again on the 5th November 2015.  The day began with an appearance on BBC Radio Lancashire discussing the day ahead and how important participating in events such as this is to our family business.

The Cummins Mellor Group have increased staff head count considerably since the event last year, so it was great to see parents of the newer members of staff who may not have had the opportunity to visit our offices yet.

We were also delighted to discover that many of the parents who came into the Cummins Mellor head office last year were more than willing to come back for another year!

We provided tea and cakes made by the Cummins Mellor team, a quiz and a Q & A with our Chairman and Director, Richard and Michelle Mellor.

Parents then got the chance to sit with their son/daughter whilst they did some work, some even answered the phones and spoke to some of our lovely candidates!

In preparation for the day we asked the CM team to provide photos of them as children to quiz the parents in a who’s who round, which was great fun for the parents and staff alike to all play along.

The parents who attended thoroughly enjoyed the day and loved getting to know their son/daughters colleagues and seeing the hard work they do on a day to day basis.
