Members of the Cummins Mellor team, Jodie Morgan, Katie Mellor and Operations Director Michelle Mellor, will be taking on the huge challenge of cycling from London to Paris on Tuesday 23rd July.

The team are completing the challenge to raise funds for Hospitality Action, a charity which offers vital assistance to all who work or have worked in the hospitality industry.

As a division of Cummins Mellor Group, Chefs Jobs UK specialises in hospitality recruitment we work with individuals within the industry on a daily basis we thought it fitting to raise money for a cause which we work very closely to. In the past we have come across individuals who could have benefited from the help of Hospitality Action.

The money they raise for Hospitality Action will go towards grants for essential items including food, equipment, central heating, support for isolated and lonely retired hospitality workers and educational seminars which advise catering students of the dangers of drug and alcohol misuse. The most common reason for help last year was individuals who needed support with life-changing illness.

Last year Hospitality Action spent £58,959 in the North West alone, supporting individuals who are suffering from life altering illnesses, experiencing poverty, bereavement and domestic violence and individuals who have retired from the industry and now feel isolated.

Commenting on the challenge Jodie said “Being a keen cyclist this is a challenge of a lifetime and to support such a worthwhile cause is just fantastic. It’s also a great way to spend my 28th birthday!”

Jodie’s making sure she’s prepared for the event by going to the gym 2-3 times a week, completing 20-40 mile bike rides on days off and has also cut out carbohydrates after 6pm. Michelle and Katie are preparing by cycling various bike routes in the north.

Michelle and Jodie have previous experience of taking part in charity bike rides. Last year Michelle cycled from Whitehaven to Tynemouth promoting awareness and raising sponsorship for the Cancer Foundation Rosemere and Michelle and Jodie also completed the Snowdonia challenge 2012 for Regain, a sports charity which improves the independence of British men and women who have become tetraplegic as a result of a sporting injury.

Michelle, Jodie and Katie have all begun preparing for the grueling ride and we’ll keep you posted on their progress in the coming weeks.
