 Krystina’s Story

Krystina went to sixth form college and after completing A Levels in Biology, Psychology and Sociology she decided she didn’t want to attend university. She went through a  local training provider to begin her Apprenticeship at Cummins Mellor. 7 years later she is now Payroll Administrator and Accounts Assistant in our Business Support  department.

What made you decide to enter into an apprenticeship?
“I didn’t want to go to university – I wanted real life work experience.

What did you enjoy the most about being a Cummins Mellor Apprentice?
“Learning new things, becoming more and more useful to my department and my company. Being given the opportunity to find my place within the company and allowed to  gain  experience within different departments  before choosing where I wanted to work.”

Are there any disadvantages to being an Apprentice?
“No, I thought it was great.

What advice would you give to somebody considering an apprenticeship?
“Be open minded, be willing to learn and don’t take offence if one of your first tasks is to “brew up”! If you work hard, you will soon be climbing the ladder and will become a  valued member of the team.”

How did you hear about Apprenticeships?
“I was looking for jobs on the internet and came across an advert for a local training provider. I applied and was asked to go in to see them within a couple of days. From there, I had 2 interviews and was offered a job at  Cummins Mellor Recruitment within 2 weeks.”
