Our client is looking for an Executive Chef who will be responsible for all food production for the College as well as all other hospitality functions including weddings, corporate dinners and large catering events.

The successful candidate will develop menus, complete food purchasing specifications and develop recipes to promote a professional, efficient, effective, and customer focused business. Your success will be measured through quality, value for money and customer satisfaction.

Working closely with the Head of Catering this is a hands-on position, and they are looking for a ‘people person’ who can work with the front of house staff to develop a team culture based on communication and commitment to the highest customer focused standards. You must be able to maximise the efficient and effective use of staff whilst working within overall departmental budget targets.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Head Chef to step into a new position or for current Executive Chef who is looking for a new challenge. Our client is looking for a passionate Chef who is a natural leader, who can communicate on all levels.

Your role as Executive Head Chef will include:

  • Overseeing the day to day management, development and control of an expanding multi-unit operation
  • Producing menus which demonstrate flair, imagination and a commercial awareness that takes into account current trends in the catering industry and meets customer needs and preferences
  • Managing day-to-day budget control of income and expenditure in line with departmental and financial regulations
  • To take overall responsibility for food hygiene and health and safety within the kitchen, setting high cleanliness rules, practices and routines to avoid accidents, food spoilage or waste
  • To co-operate with the Head of Catering to maintain and, where necessary, develop best practice with regard to the efficient and effective management of stores, stock accounting systems and procedures

As an Executive Head Chef you will:

  • Have been a Head Chef for a minimum of 2 years working in a high volume, fast paced kitchen within hotel, education or restaurants
  • Previous knowledge and experience of fine dining and large volume hospitality and catering
  • Demonstrate flair and passion for food
  • Have excellent and Innovative culinary and presentation skills
  • Have excellent communication, leadership, interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Have a good financial understanding with the ability to work to budget and cost accurately
  • Have strong ICT skills in order to support menu and recipe planning, stock control and staff management through effective communication

Our client will offer:

  • £42,000 annual salary
  • Holiday entitlement; 20 days per annum increasing to 25 days after completion of 5 years’ services
