Our client seeks a highly analytical and detail orientated individual to coordinate their supply chain for their organisation. The role arises in a rapidly expanding business who have a long, successful history spanning over 120 years and are a market leader in their field.

Cummins Mellor seek an individual to help plan, analyse and manage the supply chain process from the point of overseas manufacturing to UK distribution. Ably supported by a skilled importer, your role will focus on building strong relationships with the company’s internal sales team and multiple suppliers to help deliver on the company’s ambitious growth plans

The successful candidate will be a shrewd planner, highly analytical, able to spot trends and have a keen eye for detail with the ambition to support the sales team in increasing sales for the organisation.

As a Supply Chain Coordinator your role will include;

  • Ensuring agreed delivery dates are monitored, maintained and communicated
  • Ensuring stock is produced, shipped and delivered in priority order
  • Collating and reporting on data, writing reports and producing management information
  • Monitoring market trends, competitor strategies and market suppliers
  • Providing analysis on costs, new and existing and review cost reduction activities
  • Work closely with others in the procurement function and review opportunities for continuous improvement and business improvements
  • Negotiating contracts, improving prices and terms of business with suppliers and reviewing opportunities to make business savings utilising negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods
  • Preparing and raising purchase orders and maintaining order schedules, so that goods arrive on time
  • Building, maintaining and managing supplier relationships and developing good communications
  • Ensuring that a professional and consistent approach is taken in relation to all supplier relationships
  • Adhering to any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of self, staff and visitors


The ideal Supply Chain Coordinator must;

  • Be computer literate and competent with the MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Experience with OrderWise would be desirable
  • Be highly accurate and have high attention to detail
  • Possess excellent communication, literacy and numeracy skills
  • Have previous experience within a planning, supply chain or procurement environment
  • Possess Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) or a similar qualification (or studying towards CIPS qualification) would be beneficial
  • Have a good knowledge of purchasing, negotiation, commercial understanding and cost breakdown
  • Have experience of working closely with suppliers
  • Be strong in planning, organising and time management skills
