We are seeking to appoint a Group Training and Development Manager to lead the training and development function and ensure that appropriate programmes and systems are developed and implemented to meet business aims and objectives.

This company is a large manufacturing business; they export worldwide and their success has been built on the skills of valued people and wish to continue to recruit talented people to join the team.

The role will interface with all key stakeholders to ensure that training and development initiatives are fit for purpose. The role will also work with external bodies such as Department of Education, colleges and other trade bodies/industries.

The ideal person will have over 5 years’ experience of developing and implementing training and development systems, processes and programmes. The person should also hold an appropriate CIPD level 5 HR qualification or equivalent professional training qualification.

As a Group Training and Development Manager your role will include;

  • Conducting regular training needs analysis in order to determine the most relevant and cost-effective training and development solutions for the business that will create a high-performance culture and improve business performance
  • Responsible for Apprentice recruitment/development and the management of the Apprenticeship levy to maximise the benefit to the business
  • Works with the HR Manager/Advisors / Heads of Operations / Operational Managers to identify the training requirements tailored to the business needs and individual PDP’s; determines the priorities and plans a 12-month rolling cycle to create a companywide training plan
  • Contributes to the design, development and production of training and development materials, documents and manuals to ensure consistency and quality of content and delivery to meet the specific needs of the business
  • Work with external bodies such as the Department for Education, colleges and industrial partners, to benchmark best practice and understand developments in T&D which may benefit the business
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to managers to ensure that all training and development systems and processes are implemented effectively


The ideal Group Training and Development Manager will;

  • Have held a similar position in a previous business having dealt with a larger workforce
  • Have the ability to measure and assess staff training needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Embrace efficiency and innovative thinking
