We are looking to recruit an office manager for a client based in Preston.

My client is a successful independent Chambers based in Preston.

They now have a vacancy for an Office/Practice Manager to join their team.

The Role

  • You will be required to manage a team of 14 clerks. Setting targets and ensuring that they are equipped to meet those KPI’s.
  • You will be the link between the barristers and the clerks, and therefore you must have strong communication skills, and be a strong leader.
  • You will be expected to run the office from a business perspective, and will be required to look at current procedures and implement any changes required to benefit the performance of the business and to increase profit margins wherever possible.
  • You will be responsible for handling the complaints procedure from external sources, and ensure that all parties are informed in a timely fashion and within guidelines.
  • To keep abreast of all regulatory issues concerning
  • To act as the point of contact for the Legal Aid Agency’s Contract Manager and to escalate billing issues where required
  • Dealing with various issues relating to facilities management and ensuring the building is maintained to an acceptable standard as directed by the Management Committee. Ensure appropriate insurance policies and regulatory policies required by the Bar Standards Board are in place
  • ensuring regular performance reviews and/or appraisals are undertaken and training and development activity agreed takes place;
  • To promote a teamwork ethos amongst Members of Chambers and staff and between Members of Chambers and staff;

The Successful Candidate

  • Will have exceptionally strong people management skills
  • Be experienced in leading and motivating teams within a commercial environment
  • Be articulate and have the ability to deliver verbal instruction
  • Ideally have knowledge or understanding of “The Cloud” and a willingness to embrace technology
  • Have the ability to handle and manage objections
  • To display impartiality within all aspects of your role
  • Have strong written communication skills
