Our client is looking to recruit an ambitious and visionary Accounts Assistant to join their expanding finance team. The successful candidate will be a confident, pro-active self-starter with good interpersonal and communication skills at all levels.

Reporting directly to the company’s Financial Controller, the successful candidate will be overseeing the day to day running of the wholesale ledger, managing a team of 4 personnel and financial analysis. You will assist the Financial Controller in budgeting and forecasting and ad-hoc projects affecting the company’s future business development.

As an Accounts Assistant your role will include;

  • Responsibility of wholesale ledger; managing a team of 4 accounts personnel
  • Ensuring that all daily, weekly and monthly routines are completed within the Company timescales
  • Maintaining accounting records filed in good order for the retention period
  • Overseeing purchase and supplier controls, including validation by cross checking purchase orders of all supplies and services
  • Assisting in the completion of all annual budgets
  • Assisting in the preparation of quarterly VAT returns
  • Daily Bank Reconciliations
  • Posting Journal Entries, Weekly Board Reports
  • Producing budgets and forecasts, Profit & Loss and Cash Flow statements (desirable)
  • Liaising with Financial Controller to produce monthly Management Accounts

The ideal Accounts Assistant must;

  • Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a senior Accounts role
  • A recognised AAT qualification is desirable, but those holding a wealth experience in Accounts and Finance will be considered
  • Sound knowledge and experience of working in an Accounting function
  • Computer literate and able to produce correspondence and documents using a variety of software such as Microsoft Work Excel
  • Excellent telephone manner and communication skills
  • Pay close attention to detail and be able to prioritise their work, producing accurate and well-presented work
  • Must be able to work well under pressure and have a sense of urgency
  • Must be articulate and confident, be a team player with a real “can do” attitude
