Cummins Mellor are looking for a Credit Controller to join a busy and expanding finance team in a leading Burnley business. Due to continued growth our client needs additional staff to enhance their current team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Credit Controller to join a well-respected Lancashire business on a permanent basis. The main purpose of this position is to ensure the prompt settlement of accounts with credit and to update customer information, whilst ensuring that all orders are released in a timely manner and cash is allocated correctly.

The successful candidate will benefit from joining a warm and friendly team where personal development, training and employee care are at the top of the agenda. Your office hours will be 37.5 per week and can be worked flexibly in line with personal commitments.

As a Credit Controller your role will include;

  • All aspects of credit control – including review of weekly Debtors lists, chasing customers with respect to outstanding balances and resolving customer queries
  • Carrying out investigations with respect to potential Bad Debtors, gleaning information from internet sources as necessary, sending out court action letters and liaising with debt collection agency when necessary
  • Processing credit card payments from customers including inputting onto Sage spreadsheet
  • Chasing up bounced cheques and invoicing customers for charges
  • Additional duties include going through drivers notes for purposes such as making notes for payments where necessary, marrying invoices to delivery notes, sorting collection notes and resolving any queries arising from them

The ideal candidate must;

  • Have experience working in a Credit Control capacity
  • Possess strong telephone and communication skills
  • Must have excellent attention to detail
  • Have a warm and friendly telephone manner
  • Be competent working with Microsoft Word / Excel & Outlook
  • Have experience using Sage (500 experience desirable)
  • Be capable of working as part of an intimate team
  • Use their own initiative and have a keen ability to problem solve
