Description:

My client is looking to recruit a Hotel Accountant to lead their finance team. The successful candidate will be a confident, pro-active self-starter with good interpersonal and communication skills at all levels.

My client is a leading 4* Hotel based in Lancashire and they can offer the opportunity to put a real stamp on the Hotel’s financial future. You will be responsible for all accounting and financial controls with particular emphasis on financial analysis and advice, seeking to drive through improvements in financial performance and control for the Hotel.

As Financial Controller your role will include;

Management Reporting:

  • Ensure the preparation of timely and accurate monthly management accounts and reports for the Directors with comparisons to budgets/forecasts and prior year;
  • Rezlynx – importing of all financial information into the finance system;
  • Responsibility for all journals and final nominal ledger balances including review of month end balance sheet reconciliations and control accounts.

 

Budgets/Forecasts:

  • Preparation and consolidation of annual budgets, including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow planning;
  • Development and preparation of staff rota spreadsheets for departmental payroll planning; development and maintenance of analysis tools to forecast and track payroll costs against budget and forecast.

 

Year End:

 

  • Preparation of accounts ready for hand over to the external accountants;
  • Preparation of the year end working file complete with all year-end reconciliations;
  • Liaise with external accountants on the preparation and final submission of statutory financial information.

Technical Skills: the ideal Financial Controller must;

  • Have full accounting qualifications (ACA, ACCA, CIMA);
  • Knowledge and experience in the preparation of statutory and management accounts;
  • Experience of managing change & implementing new systems, processes and procedures;
  • Ability and experience in managing a team of 3 staff.

 

Soft Skills: the ideal Finance Manager must be;

  • Proactive and pragmatic with a hands-on approach;
  • Resilient and able to work under pressure;
  • Excellent in their attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Confident and experienced working within a team.
