A fantastic opportunity has become available for a full time Assistant Financial Controller to join a growing Hotel group in Preston.

Reporting directly to the Hotel’s Financial Controller, the successful candidate will be overseeing the day to day running of the accounting function, financial management reporting and financial analysis. You will assist the Financial Controller in budgeting and forecasting and ad-hoc projects affecting the Hotel’s future business development.


As an Assistant Financial Controller, your role will include;

  • To ensure that the purchase ledger procedure is carried out in accordance with the Company Standards;
  • To maintain employee records, payroll support systems, and to input relevant data in respect of the hotels payroll;
  • To maintain the Sales Ledger and to extend credit facilities in accordance with the Company Policy;
  • Ensure that all daily, weekly and monthly routines are completed within the Company timescales;
  • To maintain accounting records filed in good order for the retention period;
  • Purchase and supplier controls, including validation by cross checking to deliveries and purchase orders of all supplies and services;
  • To assist in the completion of all monthly management accounts;
  • To assist in the completion of all annual budgets;
  • Assisting in the preparation of quarterly VAT returns for each hotel;
  • Reconciling bank accounts.



The ideal Assistant Financial Controller must;


  • Previous experience of working in a hotel in a finance role is desirable for this position;
  • Experience in using Sage Accounts;
  • A hard-working professional with the desire to maintain and improve upon high standards;
  • A team player with a hands-on attitude;
  • Have an accurate and methodical approach to work;
  • Will be able to meet deadlines and prioritise work;
  • Have a good working knowledge of Excel.
