Cummins Mellor are working with a leading North West retailer based in East Lancashire in their search for a full time Accounts Assistant.

Accounts Assistant – Accrington £16,000 – £17,500 DOE

Our client seeks a strong, all-round Accounts Assistant with a can-do attitude to join their current team of 4. Due to a period of expansion, the successful candidate will be handling the accounts for 9 retail outlets alongside a thriving web retail business.

You will report directly to the Finance Manager and will be based in an open plan office close located close to the E. Lancs motorway network. The successful candidate will have previous experience in an accounts role and ideally will possess knowledge of Sage 200.

Candidates with experience in Sales Ledger and Purchase Ledger roles may also be considered suitable.

As an Accounts Assistant your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Purchase Ledger support including high volumes of price checking on stock invoices and posting invoices onto Purchase ledger
  • Posting of sales journals on SAGE 200 from preformatted reports received into office
  • Filing of invoices
  • Processing low volumes of sales invoices
  • Generating sales invoices for sundry/secondary activities on an ad hoc, low volume basis
  • Managing the sales ledger
  • Posting and processing low volumes of ad-hoc receipts

As an Accounts Assistant your secondary responsibilities will include:

  • Posting cash book transactions
  • Bank account reconciliations
  • Post intercompany transactions (training provided)
  • Run reports on certain aspects of operations
  • Ad hoc administrative and clerical tasks including filing
  • Ordering of sundry items (DERV, FLT gas, etc.)
  • Process Retail outlet dispatch bags (internal mail etc.)
  • Provide assistance on a small property portfolio

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Experience with SAGE (200 preferable)
  • Proficient IT Skills; Excel, Word and Outlook
  • A self-motivated and proactive attitude
  • Excellent attention to detail, diligent and solutions orientated
  • High levels of numerical accuracy
  • Good communication skills
  • Excellent teamwork skills
  • The ability to work to strict deadlines
