An established and highly regarded business based in East Lancashire is looking for a driven and inspiring Finance Professional to join their growing team.

This is a unique opportunity for a qualified and experienced Accountant to join a thriving business, working closely with the Senior Management Team to achieve ambitious growth plans for the immediate and long term future.

As Financial Controller you will take overall responsibility for all Finance & Accounting related matters as well as forming a key part of the Senior Leadership Team responsible for performance, systems and finance strategy. The Head of Finance will be required to manage a small team of finance professionals, ensuring the day to day transactional work is completed efficiently as well as ensuring the production of the Monthly Management Accounts which feed into the strategic business plan which all the Senior Management Team are working towards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing the finance team who take care of the purchase ledger, sales Ledger, credit control payroll and business support services
  • Due to the high volumes of cash coming into the business cash allocation and bank reconciliation are of the upmost importance
  • Production of timely and accurate weekly sales figures to be distributed to the Senior Management & Sales Team
  • Preparing timely and accurate financial statements and commentary for review in the monthly finance meeting with the Directors including reporting on all activity surrounding sales, costs, stock and journals
  • Production of monthly cash flow forecasts
  • Production of annual budgets
  • VAT returns
  • Development of financial information, relevant KPI’s and reporting
  • Growing the finance function which will provide guidance and support to all departments and staff within the organisation
  • Evaluation and implementation of business systems and processes to meet financial data processing controls and reporting requirements

Skills and experience:

  • Qualified Accountant in ACCA, CIMA or ACA
  • Excellent communication skills are key with Directors, Senior Management Team and the business as a whole
  • Advanced Excel skills to Macro level
  • Knowledge of Sage accounting software
