Whitehall Hotel have a fantastic opportunity for a professional hospitality manager to be responsible for managing front office, F&B operations and for delivering an excellent guest experience.

The Whitehall Hotel, situated in Blackburn with Darwen, dates back to 1898. Its period features of a panelled sweeping staircase, decorative ceilings and an open fireplace are complemented by an impressive 16-foot chandelier.

This majestic Victorian manor house has been lovingly transformed into a traditional country house hotel which boasts 16 luxury bespoke bedrooms, a comfortable bar and lounge area, a function room which hosts many weddings and corporate events through the year.

The foundations of the house are as solid as the pursuit of customer care, where the owners pride themselves on professional and unrivalled hospitality.

The successful candidate will be a hands-on individual, promoting and marketing the business, and involved in all aspects of the hotel service.

As General Manager your role will include;

  • Working closely with the Directors and managing a team of 12+ Front of House staff;
  • Hands on day to day running of Hotel, bar and restaurant service;
  • Responsibility for: wedding bookings, planning shifts, function sheets, restaurant bookings, stock taking;
  • Providing exceptional quality standards to the dining experience.
  • Taking ownership to resolve problems and empower the team to do the same
  • Ensuring the Hotel is safe and secure putting Health and Safety of colleagues and customers at the forefront of what you do;
  • Training, recruiting and inducting team members to provide them with a great experience and setting them up for success;

The ideal General Manager must;

You must be outgoing with positive personalities, hard-working and passionate about the industry with a keen eye for detail & very high standards.

  • A strong commitment to service and standards;
  • Exceptional leadership skills and the ability to train effectively;
  • Ability to communicate professionally with guests on the telephone and email;
  • Experience preferred with hotel software and taking care of overnight guests;
  • Highly visible ‘face of the business’ type role;
  • A hands-on manager that isn’t afraid to get stuck in.
