Our CSR Policy

Why do we believe in CSR?

The Cummins Mellor Group strives to be a good corporate player. Through the services of its people and managers, we are committed to promoting the protection of the environment, supporting local charities and local communities, promoting equal opportunities, ensuring safe and efficient working practices and working with suppliers who uphold similar values. To us, corporate teamresponsibility is more than just supporting charitable causes, it is about ensuring our values, culture and ethical responsibility run throughout our business strategy and practices.

We recognise our people are our greatest asset and key to continued growth and success and as such are committed to providing careers and a working environment in which our people can achieve their full potential and be the very best version of themselves.

Developing future talent is fundamental to Cummins Mellor. We are committed to keeping employees informed of group affairs and regular team meetings. Employees are encouraged to discuss operational issues with their line managers and suggest ways to improve performance and efficiency.

We encourage an open, honest culture with full visibility of all our staff and team achievements including their training and experience across all departments, including achievement of recognised professional qualifications which are relevant across all divisions and sectors we serve. We encourage apprenticeships and all learning including the development of great leadership and management skills.

We are committed to seeking the sustainability of ethics by striving to add value to our activities, whether work-based or social-based, by ensuring they have a positive impact whether financially, socially or environmentally.

We are also committed to ensuring that our less tangible but no less vital ethical values clearly manifest and are always present in the Company – sometimes in the background, sometimes in the foreground – but always evident. Our values form the backbone of our culture and are the accepted way of carrying out our responsibilities.

 

Our CSR Policy Statement:

We recognise that we must integrate our business values and operations to meet the expectations of our stakeholders. They include customers, employees, investors, suppliers, the community and the environment.

  • We recognise that our social, economic and environmental responsibilities to these stakeholders are integral to our business. We aim to demonstrate these responsibilities through our loud2actions and within our corporate policies.
  • We take seriously all feedback that we receive from our stakeholders and, where possible, maintain open dialogue to ensure that we fulfil the requirements outlined within this policy.
  • We shall be open and honest in communicating our strategies, targets, performance and governance to our stakeholders in our continual commitment to sustainable development.
  • The Board of Directors is responsible for the implementation of this policy and will make the necessary resources available to realise our corporate responsibilities. The responsibility for our performance on this policy rests with all employees throughout the company.

Health, Safety and Workplace Wellbeingtracey simon

The health and safety, welfare and wellbeing of our team is of paramount importance to the Group. We aim to create and improve standards of Health and Safety, which will lead to the avoidance and reduction of risks and to ensure that the company complies with all Health and Safety legislation.

The Group makes every reasonable and practicable effort to provide a safe and healthy working environment in its offices. It is the duty of employees to exercise responsibility and to do everything they can to prevent injury to themselves or others.

Through the promotion of healthy living, professional development opportunities, social activities, and continued engagement with our team we aim to ensure our workplace is conducive to productive, inspiring and positive work experiences.

The Group will organise workshops promoting wellbeing, activities including walking and running clubs, fresh fruit delivered weekly to the office and undertake workstation risk assessments to ensure comfort and health needs are taken into account.

 

Environmental Issues

Environmental savings make good business sense. Our primary objective is to minimise our carbon footprint and any negative impact we may have on the environment. We are committed to:

  • meeting or exceeding the requirements of relevant legislative, regulatory and environmental codes of practice
  • identifying, reducing and disposing of waste arising from our operations in a manner that minimises harm to the environment and prevents pollution of land, air and water
  • reducing the consumption of energy and water and using renewable and/or recyclable resources where practicable
  • encouraging our suppliers to implement good environmental practices and procedures which support our own objectives and targetsalice2
  • taking responsibility for the maintenance and revision of our environmental policy, which is reviewed on a regular basis, in order to set environmental objectives and targets for continuous improvement, as we recognise the need for sustainable development.

The Cummins Mellor Group

  • uses, where possible, recycled printing paper which is chlorine free
  • promotes recycling initiatives
  • recycles all paper and card products, printing consumables, IT equipment and qualifying office waste via approved local initiatives
  • emails documents such a payslips to our staff and temporary candidates, by implementing online registration procedures and by introducing online acceptance method for Terms of Business we are reducing our carbon footprint, print and postage costs and by default assisting our clients to do the same.
  • Supports a Cycle to Work scheme in order that staff can tax efficiently purchase bicycles for cycling to work.

 

Charitable Giving

Each year the Company supports a nominated a charity.

Fundraising efforts include:

  • organising supporter events
  • supporting and entering teams in events hosted by other supporter companiesrosemere

Support efforts include:

  • Utilising our specialist skills to assist in recruitment activities – for the appointment of new staff and to assist in preparing the youth for entering the work market
  • Attending functions to promote the activities of the charity
  • Mentoring activities

The Cummins Mellor Group support a wide range of additional charities, selected by employees.

We do this through:

  • organised dress down or themed days
  • holding sporting event sweepstakes
  • arranging events such as bake-off competitions
  • pancake lunch days
  • sponsoring colleagues undertaking charitable challenges

While the Group is accountable to the Board of Directors, it takes into account the interests of all it stakeholders including our employees, our customers and our suppliers, as well as the local community and the environment in which we operate.
